Three Recipes That Taste Amazing When Made With High-Quality Bread

While there are many types of bread out there, it is worth it to buy a healthier, higher-end bread. You can often buy it for cheaper at wholesale bread suppliers or at bakeries when it is a day or two old. Here are three recipes you can make with high-quality bread.

Sausage Souffle

Ingredients:

Eight slices of white or french bread, crusts removed and cut into one-inch pieces

One 10 oz can of cream of mushroom soup

Eight eggs, whisked

3 cups of milk

1 tsp of powdered mustard

1 lb hot sausage, cooked and drained

2 cups of cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

1. Butter the bottom of a 9 by 13 pan. Lay the bread and sausage in the pan.

2. Mix together the eggs, mustard, and two cups of the milk. Pour it over the bread and sausage. Put the cheese on top.

3. Slide the pan in the fridge overnight.

4. The next morning, mix the cream of mushroom soup and one cup of milk. Pour it on the top and slide it into the oven. Bake for one hour at 350 degrees.

Baked French Toast

Ingredients:

1 10 oz French bread or ten slices of regular bread

3 cups milk

1/3 tsp salt

8 large eggs

4 tsp sugar

1 Tbsp vanilla

Directions:

1. Cut the bread into two inch slices. Grease a 9 by 13 pan with butter and arrange the bread along the bottom of the pan.

2. Beat together the eggs, milk, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Pour it over the bread.

3. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

4. Remove the cover, dot with some butter, and sprinkle some cinnamon and sugar over the top.

5. Cook for 45-50 minutes at 350 degrees. The bread will be bubbly and lightly browned.

6. Remove from the oven and let it stand for five minutes. Serves eight people.

Easy Bruschetta

Ingredients:

Eight slices of artisan bread

2 Tbsp olive oil

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

2 fresh tomatoes, diced

8 basil leaves, chopped

1/2 tsp chopped garlic

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp balsamic vinegar

Directions:

1. Move one of the oven racks to the top rung and preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

2. Place the bread on a cookie sheet and baste it with 1 Tbsp of the olive oil. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

3. Slide it into the oven and cook for six to seven minutes.

4. Mix the rest of the olive oil, chopped tomatoes, basil, balsamic vinegar, and salt in a small bowl. When the bread comes out, top it with the tomato mixture. Serve immediately so the bread doesn't get soggy.
